Information: Hissar health resort is located in the centre of Bulgaria, in the southern folds of Sredna Gora mountain, 360 metres above the sea-level, 40 km North from Plovdiv and 180 km East from the capital Sofia. The archaeological researches show that by the mineral springs of Hissar there has been a village 5000 B.C. Many years later Thracians and Romans settled around the hot mineral springs. In the year of 293 the Roman emperor Diocletian visited the village and surrounded it with a fortress wall. Then the village got the name Dioclatianopolis. In the year of 1976 the cultural monuments in Hissar have been highly estimated and declared to be national archaeological sanctuary with an area of 300 decares.
