Stara Zagora
Information: Stara Zagora is situated in southern Bulgaria, surrounded by the vast fields of the Upper Thracian Lowland and parts of the Sarnena Sredna Gora Mountains. The climate of the town is temperate continental with average annual temperature +13 o C. It is one of the biggest towns in the country, with a population of 150,000 inhabitants. It serves as a central connection of the Bulgarian railway network, and an important crossroads between the East and the West, the North and the South.
The town was founded in the 6th millennium BC. Its long existence was marked with many names - Beroe, Augusta Trayana, Vereya, Irinopolis, Borouy, Eski Zagra, Zheleznik, Stara Zagora, and also with many variants of those names.
